The Story

Hi, my name is Okolo, a young African immigrant in Milan, Italy. I left my home country of Nigeria in search of a better life and ended up in the metropolitan city of Milan. Full, of opportunities, I must say. However, I initially struggled to make ends meet and felt lost in this new world, shrouded in its completion. That was until I stumbled upon the art of storytelling by chance.

One cool evening, after some 10 years in the country, I was walking along a busy street in Milan when I came across a group of people who were gathered around a street performer. This performer was captivating the crowd with his stories, and quite frankly I was mesmerized. I stood there for hours, listening to the performer and soaking in every word from his mouth. It was then that I realized the power of storytelling.

Soon after, I started attending storytelling workshops and learning from the experienced storytellers I could reach. I practiced every day, using my personal experiences as inspiration for the immigrant stories I was telling. As I got better and better, people started taking notice of my talent. I was invited to perform at local cultural events in Milan and across Italy, and soon I was making a name for myself as a skilled African storyteller in Italy.

I must admit that my success didn’t come easy, though. I initially faced many challenges along the way, including overcoming language barriers and cultural differences in Italy. But I persevered and was determined to use my gift to help others. Through my storytelling skills, I have shed light on the struggles of many other African immigrants in Italy and Europe and I have inspired others to never give up on their dreams.

My success wasn’t just limited to storytelling, either. Over the years I have used my newfound fame to launch a business, teaching others the art of storytelling. I have also written books and created online courses and I help people from all over the world to tap into the power of storytelling.

I am telling you this story as proof that with hard work and determination, anyone can succeed in life, irrespective of their cultural background and what has been their past. The art of storytelling has the power to transform lives, and I am living proof of that. My journey from a struggling immigrant to a successful storyteller can serve as an inspiration to all.
